Booking courts, chalets and rooms by the hour without double-booking
A padel court, a chalet, a meeting room, a cabin: all sold by the hour with a limited number of units. Here is what a platform needs so the same unit is never booked twice.
Short answer
An hourly booking is not an entry ticket. It is an appointment on a limited unit: two courts, four rooms, five cabins. The platform has to know how many units are busy right now, block any booking that exceeds capacity, and compute the end of the booking from the arrival time.
Capacity in units, not tickets
Set the number of units you own once. The one-, two- and three-hour tiers share the same pool, so a two-hour booking on a court makes it unavailable to anyone else in that window even if they pick a different tier. Without that you sell the same unit to two customers.
Book now or in advance
The customer standing at your door wants "now"; the one at home wants tomorrow at five. A good platform offers both: an instant booking that starts at the moment of purchase, or a day and arrival time chosen from a list that only shows times where the units are free for the whole duration.
Opening hours
"Book now" should never appear while the venue is closed. Set operating hours; an instant booking outside them is refused with a clear message, and advance times stay within opening hours.
Price and duration
Price each duration separately: one hour at one price, two hours at a lower rate per hour, three hours lower still. The ticket duration starts at the chosen arrival time, not at purchase, so the customer does not lose hours before they arrive.
Entry and proof of booking
The customer gets a QR ticket in the app or in Apple Wallet, and your staff scans it on arrival. The ticket expires automatically at the end of the duration, so staff do not have to watch the clock.
Frequently asked
Can I sell just two courts?
Yes. Set capacity to two courts and each customer sees the times that are free given what is already booked.
Does it work for chalets, cabins and rooms?
Yes, the principle is the same: limited units sold by duration. Only the names and prices differ.
What about cancellation and refunds?
The organiser handles them from the dashboard. Decide your policy before opening bookings and state it in the tier description.
