A Practical Systematic Review Workshop Series: From research question to submission

A Practical Systematic Review Workshop Series: From research question to submission

About the Event
About the programme Develop your research idea into a structured, well-built systematic review through an applied training programme of six live online sessions. You will work on your own project step by step, from formulating the research question and designing the protocol, to building the search strategy, screening studies, extracting data and appraising quality, and on to analysing the evidence, writing the manuscript, and preparing it for submission to a scientific journal. The programme goes well beyond theory. Each session combines two hours of live training, hands-on work and consultation, and a practical output at the end of every stage. You will work on your own review from start to finish. Because strong reviews benefit from a second pair of eyes, the programme pairs you with a fellow participant to check each other's work, so you can keep your review rigorous even if you are publishing on your own. The six sessions The programme is built around six sessions, one each week, each pairing two hours of teaching with one hour of hands-on work on your own review. Together they take your project from a focused question to a submission-ready manuscript, with guided milestones between sessions: Session 1: Shaping a focused, answerable research question, designing the protocol, and registering the review Session 2: Building a comprehensive, reproducible search strategy across the right databases Session 3: Screening and selecting studies through a transparent, well-documented process Session 4: Extracting data and appraising study quality and risk of bias Session 5: Synthesising the evidence, including meta-analysis where suitable, and writing the results Session 6: Writing the manuscript and preparing a complete submission package Your facilitators Dr. Eman Al-Nafjan and Dr. Sajjadullah Alhawsawi have developed and led this systematic review series several times. They work alongside you, helping you write and refine your review step by step, from a research question through to a submission-ready manuscript.
